OUR STORY

The Early Days

In 1994, Pastor Corey and Beth Ann Jones moved to Texas to pursue graduate studies and plant a church in a growing Fort Worth suburb. However, by 1996, God redirected their path toward serving the inner city.

Burdened by a calling to reach the needy and hopeless, they were led to Meadowbrook in East Fort Worth, where a diminished church with only a few members, became the starting point for a new ministry. Despite the building’s poor condition and many early hardships, a small group joined them in their vision to share Christ’s love and bring hope to the community.

During these formative years, God inspired a focus on outreach to local children, particularly in nearby apartments and the Woodhaven area. This led to the creation of the “Peanut Butter and Jelly Kid’s Club,” supported by the “PB&J Bus.” Since 1996, this ministry has touched thousands of children and hundreds of families through the ongoing work of Crossroads.

The Crossroad

By 1999, Pastor Corey and Beth Ann Jones found themselves at a crossroad. The congregation consisted primarily of children, while many of the adults who attended were struggling with addiction, spiritual strongholds, and the challenges of poverty. Despite their best efforts, real transformation was often elusive, and the church faced ongoing financial hardship. Discouraged and uncertain, Pastor Corey considered stepping away.

In the midst of this struggle, God led Pastor Corey to attend a Tuesday night prayer meeting at Christ Tabernacle in Queens, New York— the daughter church of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, pastored by Jim Cymbala. That night, God ignited a vision in his heart of what could be accomplished through fervent, unified prayer.

Upon returning home, Pastor Corey led the church into a renewed commitment to prayer. From that point forward, prayer became the foundation of everything done at Crossroads—a core value that continues to guide the church to this day.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

THE PRESENT DAYS

Today, Crossroads Tabernacle stands as a testament to the power of prayer and the faithfulness of God. It is a place where prayers are continually answered and miracles still unfold. Since making prayer the foundation of the church, we have experienced the unmistakable movement of God’s Spirit in our midst.

What began in 1996 with just a handful of believers has grown into a thriving, diverse community. People from all walks of life and a rich variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds now call Crossroads home. As we celebrate more than 27 years of God’s unwavering faithfulness, we are continually reminded of the promise He gave to Pastor Corey and Beth Ann in those early days:

Then when you call, the Lord will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply... Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.
